Ad-hoc notification in accordance with Section 15 WpHG [Securities Trading Act]: Analytik Jena Starts below Expectations into Financial Year 2012/2013

Jena (Germany), February 1, 2013 — Analytik Jena AG (Prime Standard: AJA, ISIN: DE0005213508) today announced its preliminary sales and earnings figures for the first three months of the current 2012/2013 financial year. According to these figures the Thuringia-based provider of analytical instrumentation technology generated consolidated operating profits (EBIT) of EUR 1.23 m (previous year: EUR 1.89 m), representing a decrease of 35.2 %, as well as a consolidated net loss for the period of EUR -0.04 m (previous year: EUR 1.46 m). Earnings per share amounted to EUR -0.01 (previous year: EUR 0.25). Earnings before taxes (EBT) amounted to EUR -0.06 m (previous year: EUR 2.06 m).

With consolidated sales of EUR 24.31 m (previous year: EUR 23.18 m) a sales increase of 4.9 % was generated. With revenues of EUR 15.77 m (previous year: EUR 14.09 m) sales in the Analytical Instrumentation business unit were increased by 11.9 %. The consumer business unit Optics also generated a positive sales development to EUR 1.20 m (previous year: EUR 1.14 m), corresponding to an increase of 4.5 % compared with the prior-year quarter. In the Life Science business unit, on the other hand, sales declined by 7.5 % to EUR 7.35 m (previous year: EUR 7.95 m). On a regional basis, in particular, the traditional strength in Asia was further expanded with sales of EUR 9.33 m in Asia, corresponding to sales growth of 19.5 % in the past quarter.

This information is based on preliminary key financial figures. The complete figures for the first three months of the 2012/2013 financial year will be announced on February 14, 2013, whereas the Company holds on to its estimation to generate growth in this financial year.

Analytik Jena will announce its outlook for the entire financial year immediately prior to the Annual General Meeting on April 23, 2013.
